About SayTrees

Founded in 2007, still on the same ground

SayTrees began as a group of volunteers united by a common passion under the leadership of Kapil Sharma and Deokant Payasi in 2007. Later, it was formally registered as a non-profit trust, co-founded by Kapil, an IT professional deeply committed to fighting climate change, and Deokant Payasi, a retired Indian Naval officer who shared the same vision. SayTrees began as a small, volunteer-led response to the city’s rapidly vanishing green cover. What started with weekend tree plantation drives has today grown into a nationally respected environmental organisation delivering nature-based solutions across 18 Indian states and 2 Union Territories.

Our Purpose

Discover and scale solutions to combat climate change to enhance human and the planet's well-being.

Our Vision

Scaled up climate change solutions on one million hectares of landscapes and water bodies across the globe, impacting ten million livelihoods, and sequestering ten million MT of carbon by 2035.

"We are delighted to partner with SayTrees. When I chaired the Green Team India, one of my objectives was to plant one tree for every ADI employee in India. And thanks to our partnership with SayTrees we achieved that in 2022. They made it easy for us to plant trees and ensure their survival."
